Verdant Idea modded Minecraft server settlement

Verdant Idea is the Survivors Enclave's active modded Minecraft world: a Forge-powered, exploration-forward server built around green terrain, basecraft, technology, ruins, farms, and long-form community play. It is meant to feel alive without becoming a chore, stable without becoming sterile, and cooperative without removing the survival edge that makes Minecraft stories worth telling.

What this world is for

Verdant Idea gives the Enclave a slower-burning modded Minecraft lane. The point is not to speedrun a quest book and abandon the map. The point is to build a world that collects projects: farms that feed the crew, machines that make the next build easier, roads that turn scattered bases into a region, landmarks that help new players orient, and small towns that look better every time someone logs back in.

Server posture

  • Forge modpack server for Minecraft Java 1.20.1.
  • Daily restart scheduled at 4:00 AM Central time.
  • Initial backups configured to preserve world progress, config, KubeJS data, Patchouli/FancyMenu data, whitelist, ops, and admin JSON files.
  • Routine backups exclude rebuildable modpack files such as mods, libraries, logs, plugins, and installer artifacts.
  • View and simulation distance are intentionally conservative so the server stays responsive on SEN-Node2.

Survival starters

Verdant Idea is not a normal mining-first Minecraft start. The pack is built around restoring a worn-down world, so the best opening path is to stabilize food, claim a home, learn the quest book, and use crops, compost, and early magic before chasing heavy machines.

1. Follow The Secret of Life

Use the quest book as the main guide. Gather dead tree remains, build a temporary outpost, secure food, and unlock the early botany, nature, and land quest lines.

2. Claim a safe starter base

Pick a practical spot near water, trees, stone, and build space. Claim your house, chests, starter farm, and first machines with FTB Chunks before the base grows.

3. Farm before you industrialize

Compost, crop sticks, AgriCraft mutations, wheat, potatoes, carrots, flowers, saplings, and a watering can matter more than rushing deep machines.

4. Use JEI/EMI constantly

Recipes are custom. If a familiar vanilla path does not work, check JEI/EMI and the quest line before assuming the item is blocked.

5. Move into essence and mana

After stable crops, push Mystical Agriculture and Botania. Inferium, essence upgrades, mana spreaders, mana pools, and runes form the bridge into stronger resources.

6. Engineer after the base is stable

Once food, farms, storage, and early magic are online, move into Immersive Engineering, then Thermal, bees/storage, Mekanism, and AE2.

Live World Map

The Verdant Idea Dynmap shows explored terrain as it renders. Early coverage may fill in gradually while the world preloads and players travel.

Land protection

Verdant Idea includes FTB Chunks and FTB Teams, so players can protect their own base areas without needing Towny or a Bukkit plugin. Claims are chunk-based. A claimed chunk marks that part of the world as yours, and team claims can be shared with the people you actually build with.

How to claim land

  1. Open the FTB Chunks map.Use the in-game map view, then switch to the claim tool.
  2. Claim the chunks around your base.Start with your house, storage, farms, machines, and anything you do not want touched.
  3. Create a team for shared builds.FTB Teams lets trusted players share access to the same protected area.
  4. Keep claims reasonable.Protect what you are actively using, leave room for roads and neighbors, and expand as your build grows.

Commands if needed

  • /ftbchunks claimClaims the chunk you are standing in.
  • /ftbchunks unclaimUnclaims the chunk you are standing in.
  • /ftbchunks infoChecks claim information for the current chunk.
  • /ftbteams party create <name>Creates a team for shared claims.
  • /ftbteams party invite <player>Invites someone to your team.
  • /ftbteams party leaveLeaves your current party/team.

Protection is meant to stop accidental damage, theft, and griefing around homes and community builds. It does not replace the Enclave rule: if a build is marked, claimed, or obviously occupied, respect it.

The Enclave expectation

Build like other people live here. Leave paths, signs, landmarks, and useful access. Do not treat another player's base as a public quarry. If a build is obviously claimed, respect it. If a new player arrives, point them toward the basics instead of watching them bounce off the pack. The server is small enough that reputation matters and connected enough that good citizenship compounds.

Good first objectives

Claim a sensible footprint

Pick a base location with room to expand, then leave enough space for paths, farms, and neighbors.

Make movement easier

Roads, bridges, waypoints, tunnels, and safe paths help the whole world feel connected.

Build shared infrastructure

Community farms, starter resources, repair stations, and map notes make the server easier to return to.
